SCHOOL CALENDAR

The Superintendent is responsible for preparing and presenting to the Assumption Parish School Board for approval a school calendar for the ensuing school year.  The calendar shall set forth the days schools are to be in session, holidays, vacation periods, in-service days, days counted as student attendance days, and days marking the beginning and end of reporting periods for all levels.

PREPARATION OF SCHOOL CALENDAR

Each year a committee shall be appointed by the Superintendent to develop several options of a school calendar for the coming school year.  The options shall be presented to all employees for a vote.

A tally of parish wide votes shall be made by the committee.  If one calendar receives more than fifty percent (50%) of the votes cast, that calendar shall be offered to the Board for approval.  If no one calendar receives more than fifty percent (50%) of the votes cast, the two (2) calendars receiving the highest number of votes shall be again placed before the voting body for a vote.  In the event of a "tie" for first place, the two (2) calendars that are "tied" shall be the calendars to be voted on again.  If a "tie" should occur for second place, a vote of the committee shall be used to break the "tie."  The calendar receiving the greatest number of votes in the Second Primary shall be recommended to the Board for approval.

The compilation of the results of the voting and the recommendations of the calendar to the Board for approval shall be completed by the second Board meeting in February or not later than the first Board meeting in March.
