STAFF PROTECTION

The Assumption Parish School Board will provide protection of all employees from physical and/or psychological abuse.  Any employee who is threatened with harm is to notify his/her principal or supervisor immediately, and steps are to be taken at once to protect the employee's safety.

Assumption Parish School Board shall protect its employees through a comprehensive liability insurance program, which liability insurance program shall hold harmless and defend any employee from claims for damages caused or alleged to have been caused in whole or in part by that employee while performing assigned duties as an employee of the Assumption Parish School Board under provisions of Assumption Parish School Board's liability policy, for any acts which occurred during employment, whether or not that person is employed by the Board at the time the claim is made, provided that the Board shall not be obligated to assume any costs or judgments held against the employee when such damages are proved to be due to the employee's willful negligence, violation of law or criminal act as determined by a court of law, and further provided that there shall be no liability to the Assumption Parish School Board for any such judgment in excess of the limits of such liability insurance policy.

Further, it is the policy that the Assumption Parish School Board will actively request the prosecution or whatever action is deemed necessary of the proper public officials against any offending party stemming from unprovoked and unwarranted attack against any School Board employee acting in his/her official capacity.
