SCHOOL ATTENDANCE REGULATIONS

The Assumption Parish School Board approves the following, in respect to students' enrollment in Assumption Parish Public Schools:

1.

A child, living with a relative in Assumption Parish when parents are living in another parish, may attend school in Assumption Parish only if living with a legal guardian.

2.

A child living with parents in another parish may not attend school in Assumption Parish, except in cases of Special Education.

3.

A child living in one school district of the parish may not be transported to a school in another school district in the parish.

4.

A child whose parents live in one school district of the parish, living with relatives in another district, may not attend school except in the district where the parents live.

5.

Students expelled from another school system shall not attend any school in Assumption Parish until the terms of the expulsion have been completed.

6.

A child shall physically reside in the school district where he/she attends school.  Any child who does not physically reside in the school district where he/she attends school shall be prohibited from attending that school and shall be removed from that district and enrolled in the school district where such child physically lives.

a.

At any time that the administration of the Assumption Parish School Board deems fit, the School Board may request in writing that an affidavit be made attesting to the residence of the child in the school district.

b.

The affidavit shall be dated and signed by the affiant in the presence of a Notary Public.  The affiant shall be the parent or legal guardian with whom the child allegedly physically resides with in the school district.

c.

The affidavit shall affirmatively state that the child "physically resides" in the school district where he/she attends school or intends to attend school.  The affidavit shall contain a statement that the subject child actually resides and lives in the school district five (5) days and five (5) nights per week.

d.

Failure of the parent or legal guardian/custodian, with whom the child allegedly resides, to sign the affidavit after written request by the administration of the School Board to do so, shall create a non-rebuttable presumption that the child does not "physically reside" in the school district where the child is attending school.
