STAFF INVOLVEMENT IN DECISION MAKING

This Assumption Parish School Board will initiate proceedings by which its stated policy of equal opportunity (see policies, GAAA, Equal Opportunity Employment, and JAA, Equal Educational Opportunities) may be administered.  Accordingly the following resolution is in effect:

I.          Biracial Committee

The Assumption Parish Public School Board agrees of a need for the formation of a Biracial Committee to serve in an advisory capacity to the School Board, as needed.

Therefore a Biracial Committee of equal Blacks and Whites will be formed with members representative of all areas of the parish.

II.          Teacher-Student Ratios

The Assumption Parish Public School Board will continue to employ teachers, so that the ratio of minority to majority group in each school is substantially the same as the ratio of Black to White students through out the school system in accordance to H.E.W. Guidelines.

Statistics indicating the racial composition of all teachers with Master's Degrees or any other advanced training will be given with the published list of teacher appointments at the beginning of every school session.

Transitional statistics of individuals hired, fired, demoted or new appointments will be attached to the published list of personnel appointments at the beginning of every school session.

The above mentioned will be accepted as established guidelines in the appointment of school personnel.

III.         Principals and Supervisors

Principals and Supervisors will be appointed without discrimination of race or sex, based on reasonable availability of the best qualified persons, the criteria including the comparative professional, educational and personal qualifications of the applicants. A sample application will be forwarded when completed.

IV.        School Transportation Personnel

The Assumption Parish Public School Board will indicate the race of all bus operators in the published list of personnel appointments at the beginning of every school session.

All information relative to the bus operators of the Parish is available at the Central Office, through the Transportation Supervisor's Office, to anyone upon the approval of the Assumption Parish Public School Board.
